About the network info

With support from the National Science Foundation, the following natural history museums collaborated to create the FishNet2 network: The Academy of Natural Sciences, The American Museum of Natural History, The Australian Museum, Bernice P. Bishop Museum, California Academy of Sciences, The Canadian Museum of Nature, Cornell University Ichthyology Collection, Field Museum of Natural History, FishBase, Florida Museum of Natural History, Fort Hayes State University - Sternberg Museum, Gulf Coast Research Laboratory Museum (University of Southern Mississippi), Harvard University Museum of Comparative Zoology, The South African Institute for Aquatic Biodiversity, Muséum National d'Historie Naturelle, Mississippi Museum of Natural Science, National Museum of Natural History, Natural History Museum of Los Angeles County, Royal Ontario Museum, Scripps Institution of Oceanography, Swedish Museum of Natural History, Texas Memorial Museum (University of Texas at Austin), Texas Cooperative Wildlife Collection (Texas A & M University), Tulane University Natural History Museum, University of Alabama Ichthyology Collection, University of Kansas Natural History Museum and Biodiversity Research Center, University of Michigan Museum of Zoology, and The Burke Museum of Natural History and Culture (University of Washington).

The results returned by query forms on this site may contain fields that are not necessarily supported in the databases of every participating institution. The contents of these fields will appear blank in the records returned from these institutions. Similarly, a value for a supported field may appear blank if no data were recorded in that field for a particular record. The extent to which data are made publicly available through this network is determined by each institution for its own data. In addition, every participating collection maintains additional specimen information that is not available through this interface. Individual institutions should be contacted for clarifications, and for additional data.

FishNet2 is an open, collaborative network. Data providers interested in joining this effort can find out about software and related information on the FishNet2 project web site.
